BOOKING AND PAYMENT

A deposit of 50% is required to confirm a booking. The balance is due 14 days before arrival.

For short notice bookings, full payment is required on confirmation of the booking, prior to arrival.

If the full invoice amount is less than R2,000, full payment is required upfront.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • 30 days or more before arrival: no charge
  • 29–15 days before arrival: 50% of total booking cost forfeited
  • 14–0 days before arrival, or no-show: 90% of total booking cost forfeited

A 10% administration fee will be charged on any refunds. If funds are held by us as a credit against a future booking, no administration fee is charged.

We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance to cover yourself against cancellation fees.


RATES

All rates are bed and breakfast, per person per night sharing, unless otherwise stated. Rates include 15% VAT. In the event of any changes to VAT or the introduction of new government levies, applicable rates will be adjusted accordingly.

Rates are reviewed annually. Current rates are published on the Rates & Booking page.


CHILDREN

  • Under 3 years: free
  • Age 3–11: 30% of adult rate
  • Age 12–16: 50% of adult rate

GENERAL LODGE CONDITIONS

  • All rooms are non-smoking.
  • The Lodge does not accommodate pets.
  • Outside alcohol is not permitted on the premises. A licensed bar is available.
  • No outside catering is permitted when hiring the conference venue.
  • Loud music is not permitted anywhere on the property.

PRIVACY POLICY

All personal information supplied to Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge (Pty) Ltd, whether voluntarily or as required, will be recorded and processed in accordance with applicable South African law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Why we collect your information:
We collect personal information to process and confirm reservations, provide services, communicate with you about your booking, and — where you have not opted out — to inform you of new features, services or special offers.

How we use your information:
Your information is used to transact with you regarding reservations and service delivery, and may be shared with employees and third-party service providers who assist us in delivering those services. All such parties are bound by appropriate confidentiality obligations.

We will disclose personal information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights and property of Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge (Pty) Ltd.

Your rights:
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information held by us. You may object to the processing of your personal information, subject to applicable legislation. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Retention:
We will not retain your personal information longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless required by law or retained with your consent.

Security:
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss or destruction.

DISCLAIMER

Hiking, climbing and adventure activities at Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge involve inherent risks. All activities are undertaken at the participant’s own risk. Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge (Pty) Ltd, its management operator Transfrontier Parks Destinations (Pty) Ltd, and their respective employees and agents accept no liability for injury, loss or damage arising from participation in any activity on or around the property.

Participants are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate fitness, equipment and experience for any activity undertaken. Weather conditions on the Drakensberg can change rapidly and unpredictably. All hikers and climbers are advised to check conditions before departure, carry appropriate gear, and sign the mountain rescue register at the Sentinel Peak Car Park.
